Floods in West Africa raise major health risks
19 August 2008 -- Rising flood waters across West Africa are intensifying health risks for millions of people, and adding to the impact of the food price crisis. International aid is needed since heavy rains could exacerbate health threats for conditions including malaria, diarrhoea and other potentially fatal communicable diseases.

Nepal: ensuring a worm-free childhood
14 August 2008 -- Most children in developing countries are infected with common intestinal worms which can cause malnutrition and sap a child's ability to grow, thrive and learn. This photo story shows how Nepali health workers, assisted by WHO and UNICEF, evaluated the effectiveness of its worm control programmes.
