Health action following the 2005 earthquake

On 8 October 2005, the north-eastern region of Kashmir was struck by a 7.6 magnitude earthquake that killed more than 80 000 people, injured over 100 000 and left an estimated 3.5 million homeless. Three photo essays entitled "The immediate aftermath," "The crisis continues" and "Coping" provide an overview of the health situation in Pakistan immediately after the earthquake and the emergency health response during the first three weeks and tell some of the personal stories of people affected by this tragedy.
