The files available here do not constitute a user-friendly data collection which the average user can download and access. These are the basic underlying raw data files, together with the necessary instructions, file structures, code reference tables, etc. which can be used by institutions and organizations which need access at this level of detail AND have available the required information technology (IT) resources to use this information.
Table 1: Number of Registered Deaths
Number of registered deaths, by cause, sex and age. (Population and live birth data are provided at the bottom of the table. Before using these data to calculate death rates, users should consult Table 4 on estimated levels of coverage)

Table 3: Estimated completeness of mortality data for latest year
The proportion of all deaths which are registered in the population covered by the vital registration system for a country. For completeness less than 100% the figures refer to completeness of adult deaths. Completeness of child deaths is likely to be lower in many countries.
Table 4: Estimated coverage of mortality data for latest year
Coverage is calculated by dividing the total deaths reported for a country-year from the vital registration system by the total deaths estimated by WHO for that year for the national population.
